Are there any problems with the Navistar MaxxForce 7?
According to some people, the EPA did fine Navistar for the poor emissions this engine put out and that was what finally forced Navistar to cease production. The Maxxforce 7 never could meet emission standards and that was one of its biggest problems.

Last year, a buddy of mine got into trucking. Went out and bought a 2010 International Workstar with the Maxxforce 10 International engine and a 13 speed. Overall the truck gets along fairly well. Rides like a DREAM and has OK power for a tandem.
Why does my Navistar MaxxForce 10 leak oil?
This limits the coolant flow to the EGR Cooler. When the truck is being worked hard and the EGT’s are getting higher, the EGR Cooler is starved of coolant, which causes the EGR Cooler to “superheat” creating steam in the cooler, which melts the solder in the EGR Cooler, causing a leak into the intake.
Are there any new MaxxForce engines out there?
I’ve noticed recently on the International website, the Trail Magazine, and the International Youtube channel news regarding the N9 and N10 line of engines. These two “new” engines appear to have replaced all the Maxxforce engines except for the DT and 7 creations. Are they really new? No, they are not.

How old is a Navistar MaxxForce 7 diesel?
An International bucket truck that works for our utility recently had a Maxxforce 7 replaced under warranty. Not exactly sure what the specific problems were, but they found pieces of the camshaft in the engine. Truck was only 3 years old with no more than 60K. Kind of makes you wonder about these new diesels…
