The aux switch will disconnect the coach batteries from any load in the motorhome. The main will disconnect the chassis battery from any load on the chassis. Some fleetwoods of that era left the chassis battery wired to the starter when the main is turned off.

Why is my aux switch not working on my RV?
All house systems are working without the chassis. Found the solenoid, with the chassis battery disconnected I started the chassis using the aux switch and house battery. Then after turning the engine off, hecked the disconnected cables at the chassis battery and they showed 12 volts from the house battery.

What does the red light on the aux battery mean?
If your Fleetwood works the same as my Fleetwood, the red light by the aux battery switch does not indicate if the switch is on or off. It indicates the presence of power in the 12 volt system.
Can a aux.battery charge with shore power?
The aux. batteries will charge after running the generator but not while connected to shore power. They actually drain completely after I connect to shore power. I had a Ford dealer check the batteries and they replaced the main battery and said the aux. where ok.
