What kind of engine does a Ford Econoline have?
The first-generation Ford Econoline was based on the Ford Falcon compact car range. To accommodate its 90-inch wheelbase (the shortest for a Ford since 1908), the Econoline adopted a mid-engine configuration, placing the engine behind the front axle; consequently, the layout precluded the use of a V8 engine.
Why is my Ford Econoline engine not starting?
If the engine’s ability to fire the spark plug at the right time is called “timing”. If the plugs are firing at the wrong time, or something has happened to cause the camshaft to no longer be in sync with the crankshaft, your Econoline won’t start.
Where are the fuel pumps on a Ford Econoline?
@garygary, Andrew, you probably have two fuel pumps; a low pressure transfer pump within the fuel tank (rear) and a high pressure pump mounted to the frame rail (front).
What to do if your Econoline wont start?
If no pump sound/buzz, check all fuses/relays, fuel shut off switch (possible location in pic. below), trouble/error codes as a crank sensor will also cut power to pumps, if all looks good, suspect faulty pump.
